In-form Ding Junhui made swift progress through to the fourth round of the UK Championship in York.

With top breaks of 72, 85 and 98, Ding made short work of his match against Ireland's Fergal O'Brien, beating him 6-1.

The win means Ding remains on course to become the first player since Stephen Hendry in 1990 to win four ranking titles consecutively.

"That's the legend. No-one has done that since he did it so I'll try," said the world number three.

It was a good session for the 'big guns' as Ronnie O'Sullivan, Neil Robertson and Mark Selby all progressed.

O'Sullivan overcame Marcus Campbell, the player he began his run to glory against at the Crucible earlier this year, beating him 6-2.

World number one Robertson also came through his match against a battling Li Hang, winning 6-3.

Defending champion Mark Selby thrashed Grimsby's Stuart Carrington 6-0.

O'Sullivan will play world number 14 Robert Milkins in the last 16, Robertson will face practice partner Joe Perry, while Ding meets Ricky Walden.
