AC Milan goalkeeper Christian Abbiati said on Thursday that he will quit the game if Milan offers no contract to him at the end of the season.

The 36-year-old signed a one-year contract last summer, but it is unclear whether he will be offered another one.

He is ready to accept any decision from the club.

"It's clear that you start to pick up a few injuries as you get closer to your 37th birthday," he said. "However, I remain at the club's disposal for anything. There is no law saying that I have to be the first choice forever."

"But it is clear that when Milan say stop, then I'll say stop. If I don't sign a renewal then I will probably quit the game," he said.

Abbiati was signed by Milan in 1998. He spent time on loan at Juventus, Torino and Atletico Madrid before returning to San Siro in 2008.
