Chinese No. 1 Li Na eased into the third round of the Australian Open on Wednesday after defeating teenager Belinda Bencic in straight sets.

Li, the two-time finalist at Melbourne Park, took the first set in only 22 minutes without dropping a game. Bencic put up more of a challenge in the second set to force a tie-break but Li prevailed to win 6-0 7-6 (5).

The temperatures topped 39 Celsius during the match and could exceed 40 Celsius on Wednesday.
