China will serve as one of the four international sites outside of America to host a US Women's Open qualifying in Shandong Province on May 19.

With the format requiring 36 holes, 38 players from five countries and regions will compete in the China leg with the aim of securing a spot in the field for the 69th US Women's Open.

China, England, Japan and South Korea, along with 20 sites in the United States, are serving as qualifying sites for the championship that boasts a prize purse of US$3.25 million, the largest in women's golf.

China No. 1 Feng Shanshan has already qualified for the tournament. Daniel B. Burton, USGA vice president, said having sectional qualifiers in China and other countries reflected the global expansion of the game.
