Glasgow in Scotland and Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia, are bidding to host the BWF Sudirman Cup (World Mixed Team Championships) in 2017, a press release of Badminton World Federation (BWF) said here on Friday.

The BWF said it received bids from the respective member associations, Badminton Scotland and Badminton Australia, on the cities' behalf ahead of the July 31 deadline for submissions.

While Glasgow's proposed venue is Emirates Arena, which hosted the badminton events at the recently-concluded 20th Commonwealth Games, Gold Coast has cited the newly-built Carrara Sports and Leisure Centre as their venue option.

According to the press release, Queensland will host the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games, with badminton slated to take place at the Centre.

The two bids will be presented at the BWF's Council Session in Peru, Lima on November 10-14 and the winner will be announced immediately afterwards. Enditem
