Dilana Dilixiati, the Xinjiang Uygur basketball player and the flag bearer of the Chinese delegation in the opening ceremony of the Youth Olympic Games (YOG), led her team to trump Holland on Monday to win the first group game match..

In the group game of the Three-Player Basketball Match, China beat Netherlands 13 to seven, in which Dilana was considered the best performer in the court.

"I was little nervous and missed several shots, attributed to my imperfect skills," Dilana said after the match. "But our solidarity eventually led us to win."

Despite her modesty, Dilana is seen as a rising star in China's professional basketball games. She joined Shanxi Team to play for the first time in Women Chinese Basketball Association (WCBA) from 2013 to 2014 and helped the team win the champion of the year. She was also an important player of the Youth Basketball Team, which once won the first place of the Asian Basketball Championship.

Born to a military family in Xinjiang, Dilana was introduced into the basketball team by Du Feng, a former national team player.

"She has been diligent in the training and brave, exciting and devoted in the games," Du said.
