Senior official of China's sports governing body, Xiao Tian, has attended his first meeting of World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) as a member of the Foundation Board here over the weekend since being elected.
The deputy director of China's Administration of Sports stepped in the shoes of his predecessor Duan Shijie two weeks ago, and the WADA Executive Committee and Foundation Board meetings held in Paris on last Saturday and Sunday has been his first as a Board member with a term of three yars.
Xiao made a keynote speech at the two-day meeting, stating the determination and dedication of China in fighting against doping and violation of fairplay, as WADA Board was updated on the progress of rule implementation by signatories, with just over six weeks remaining until the revised Code takes effect.
The 38-member Foundation Board is WADA's supreme decision-making body, composed equally of representatives from the Olympic Movement and governments.
China has been a representative of Asia in the Board since the anti-doping body was founded in 1999. The other Asian members representing each country's public authorities there include those of Japan, South Korea and Saudi Arabia.
