Maisei Julius from Kenya wins 9th Zhengkai Marathon title

Maisei Julius Kiplimo from Kenya won the men' s title of Zhengkai Marathon Sunday in Central China' s Henan province with 2 hours 14 minutes and 17 seconds, about 6 minutes slower than his best record.

This was the first time of Maisei participating in this race, "I' m happy to win the champion, although I' m not satisfied with the result." , said Maisei, "Marathon is very popular in Kenya, and so many people took part in Marathon all over the world to win prize."

The best record of Zhengkai Marathon was 2 hours 10 minutes and 21 seconds which was also created by Kenya runner Eliud Kapchanga Cheptei in 2001.

Kenyan runners also won the second and the third places through Chelimo Luka Kipkemoi whose result was 27 seconds slower and Karinga Julius Ndiritu whose result was 2 hours 15 minutes and 19 seconds.

Rumokol Elizabeth Chepkanan also from Kenya won the women' s champion with 2 hours 35 minutes and 49 seconds.

Zhengkai Marathon was inaugurated in 2006, which is the only marathon race in China connecting two ancient capitals Zhengzhou and Kaifeng which attract 49,000 athletes and Marathon lovers from all over the world this year.
