Neither team succeeded in scoring a goal in regular play.

Thomas Mueller started first for Bayern in the penalties and his kick was saved by Evergrande goalkeeper Zeng Cheng.

All nine kicks that followed were converted to give Guangzhou Evergrande a 5-4 victory.

As expected, Robinho started for the home team and played the first half.

Evergrande coach Luiz Felipe Scolari faced some of the German players that were on the national team when Germany massacred his Brazil squad 7-1 in the World Cup a year ago.

Scolari is happy about the circumstances in which they meet again.

"In my memories, German players are top class. On that day, they did extremely well. I think they are all nice guys. So I am happy to play against those German players again. Football is not just about winning or losing. Football is eternal. I am really happy that my life goes on after that day. And I am happy to coach a Chinese team today."

For Bayern Munich, they lost nothing more than the game as there were no injuries and coach Pep Guardiola is happy about the China tour.

Bayern Munich wrapped up its pre-season China tour with a 4-1 victory against Valencia, a 1-0 win against Inter Milan and the penalty loss Guangzhou Evergrande.
