Liu Xiang, the 110 meter hurdler, was China's first man to have won the Olympic gold medal in a track and field event after running a world record-equaling time of 12.91 seconds at the 2004 Athens Olympics. He is also the only male athlete in history to have achieved the “triple crown” in the event: World Record Holder, World Champion and Olympic Champion.
