Frenchman Bruno Bini has been named the new head coach of the Chinese women's soccer team, the Chinese Football Associtaion confirmed to Xinhua on Thursday.

Bini, who replaces Hao Wei, will be presented to the media officially on Friday in Shaanxi, where the Chinese team is scheduled to play Spain in an international friendly Friday night.

The 60-year-old Bini becomes the third foreign coach hired for the Chinese women's team after Marika Domanski-Lyfors and Elisabeth Loisel.

Bini led the French women's team to a fourth finish at the 2011 World Cup as well as the 2012 London Olympic Games. But he was sacked in 2013 due to bad results in the Euopean Championships.

The Chinese team reached the quarterfinals in the women's World Cup earlier the year.
