In formula one, it was like another routine run from pole to the checkered flag for Nico Rosberg at the Russian Grand Prix.

Rosberg led Lewis Hamilton for a Mercedes 1-2 to pick up maximum points in the opening four races this season.

Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen was the only other driver who was able to keep pace with Mercedes in an eventful afternoon.

The Finn ended up completing the podium despite being tangled up in skirmishes with Valtteri Bottas and Lewis Hamilton.

Raikkonen explained what their problem was.

"We tried today and I had a pretty ok start, managed to get past Valtteri on the first lap. Again, after the restart (it was) the same as last year here, we just don't have the speed and he managed to get me, and then when I tried to get past him Lewis (Hamilton) cut past me so we just had to try and run a bit longer and past him and managed to beat the Williams but not fast enough for Mercedes."

The other Ferrari suffered way worse. Sebastian Vettel fell once again victim to Daniil Kvyat's risky challenges.

Vettel was hit twice by Kvyat and forced into the barriers in the opening lap.

Vettel's fury from China was reignited and he did not hold it back over team radio.

Kvyat received a 10-second penalty for the action and eventually finished 15th in his home race.

Kevin Magnussen won Renault their first points of the season in 7th place.

And Romain Grosjean continues in his remarkable form in his Haas in 8th place.
