Shanghai Greenland Shenhua striker Demba Ba will leave hospital tomorrow — six days after undergoing successful surgery for a leg fracture.

According to the Chinese Super League club, the Senegal forward's recovery has been very good since last Friday's three-hour operation. He has been able to walk around with a stick, although his left calf is still in plaster.

Xia Jun, an orthopedics expert of Huashan Hospital who assisted in Ba's surgery, revealed that the wound has been healing quickly and no fever has been reported during the recovery period.

Xia added that Ba has been undergoing knee-joint training in bed, and could already bend his knee at an angle of 90 degrees without feeling pain. The plasters will be removed tomorrow.

According to Shenhua, Ba will leave Putuo District People's Hospital tomorrow and spend some time in Shanghai before heading to a health center in Qatar for further recovery.

French surgeon Olivier Bringer, who fixed a 40-centimeter nail into Ba's tibia, said after the surgery that the 31-year-old former Chelsea striker would be able to kick the ball again in about three months' time, though he would likely need a few more months to return to full competition.

Ba was leading this season's CSL scoring charts with 14 goals before breaking his left leg tibia and fibula in a clash with Shanghai SIPG captain Sun Xiang during their derby match on July 17. Shenhua won that match 2-1. Ba hopes to return to competition as early as next March when the 2017-2018 CSL season kicks off.
