The 2017 World 9-Ball China Open will get under way today at Tangzhen County in Pudong New Area.

Now in its 9th year, the competition gathers players from over 30 countries and regions, organizers said yesterday. Preliminary rounds were held earlier this week. Those advancing are joined in today's main draw by the world's top 16 male and top 8 female players.

The four-day main draw features 65 male and 48 female participants, including China's world No. 3 Liu Shasha, Pan Xiaoting, Bai Ge, South Korean Kim Ga-young, Allison Fisher of Britain, and Austrian Jasmin Ouschan. With US$373,600 in prize money, male and female winners will pocket US$40,000 and US$36,000, respectively.
