China's only hope in the men's singles, Chen Long, lost to Indian player Prannoy Haseena Sunil 21-18, 16-21, 21-19 in an exhausting quarterfinal match of Indonesia Open badminton super series tournament in Jakarta on Friday.

Chen, the Rio Olympics champion, played with the Indian non-seeded player in one hour and 15 minutes.

"The match was very exhausting. I knew that Chen Long felt the same. I also knew that he even more exhausted as I did not make any mistake in the match, capable to make the shuttlecock still in the badminton lawn," Prannoy said on the sidelines of the match held in the afternoon at Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) here.

Prannoy secured quarterfinals after trashing the defending champion Lee Chong Wei from Malaysia in the qualifying round.

With Prannoy's win, India witnessed two players in semifinals. In another quarterfinal match, Prannoy's compatriot Kidambi Srikanth eliminated Chinese Taipei player Wang Tzu Wei.
