Children attending primary schools in the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina engaged in their first table tennis training session in Paris, France on Wednesday evening, a testament to the massive expansion of this sport in the country.

As the main organizer, the municipality of Old Town Sarajevo has decided to bring children from all the primary schools together and train them for a scholastic league competition that will be held in the beginning of December.

The second competition will take place before April 6th which is the Day of Sarajevo and the winner will be the one who has the most points from two competitions.

"Table tennis, as a sport, has definitely entered in the lives of young people here, it is a very interesting sport. Tonight, we had a very positive atmosphere in the Skenderija Hall here," Amela Hadziahmetovic, president of the tennis club Spin, told Xinhua.

The popularity of table tennis dates since the time from the former Yugoslavia when every school had an active table tennis section.
