China won the gold medal in the men's 5,000m short track speed skating relay with surprise at Harbin Universiade on Monday.

China, ranked fourth in the world, came to the leading position as South Korea stumbled to drop behind with 31 laps left. The top team in the world Canada tried to surpass China but failed.

China clocked the fastest time of 7:00.424 minutes, and Canada followed to claim the silver at 7:03.929. South Korea received bronze at 7:05.141.
