In celebration of the first anniversary of the Beijing 2008 Summer Olympics, the national stadium known as the "Birds Nest" will be open to the public for free, starting today, the Beijing News reported Friday.

The neighboring National Aquatic Center will also allow visitors in for free.

Since it first opened to the public, 4.5 million people have already visited the Bird's Nest, according to the managing committee of Beijing Olympic Park. That is roughly 15, 000 per day.
