The World Cup in Brazil is expected to be the most exciting sporting event in recent memory. However, serious injuries at warm-up friendlies or club matches have prevented some of the world’s best players from playing on the top stage this summer.

Colombian striker Radamel Falcao leads the most expensive line-up, worth 296 million euros in total, which is going to miss the World Cup due to injuries. Among them, five play in Bundesliga, German's top football league, including French player Franck Ribéry.
