Chen Rongren grabbed 19 points and five rebounds to help defending champion Huaqiao University rout Shantou University 85-57 and top CUBA Southeast conference in Xuzhou on Tuesday.

Huaqiao, the defending champion of CUBA (China' s NCAA), controlled the game from the very beginning, enjoying a 49-22 lead in the first half.

Shantou fought back from the third quarter after fielding their point guard Xu Zhaolue. Xu, with his fast speed and dancing pace, dominated the ace inside the key, giving Huaqiao enormous pressure in defense.

"Xu made lots of trouble. He is so fast that it was really difficult for us to block him. When you play a guy like him, it's natural that you can feel the pressure," said Chen.

Thanks to Xu's precise shooting, Shantou trailed back in the third quarter 66-44.

At the crucial moment, Chen of Huaqiao stood out to make two three-point shots, inspiring his teammate to counter the surge in the final quarter.
