Chinese paddler Ma Lin has won the Liebherr Men's World Cup in Paris, and in so doing writes his name indelibly in the history books of table tennis.

It is the fourth time he has won the title, while no other player has won the coveted crown more than twice.

In the final, Ma Lin beat his Chinese teammate Wang Hao in a seven-game thriller 6-11, 8-11, 11-7, 11-7, 11-9, 4-11, 11-4

The world number three has won three men's singles titles on the ITTF Pro Tour in 2006.
