China Women's Volleyball Team Defeated

On Sunday at the 2006 women's volleyball world championship Olympic winners China dropped their second match in a row in Japan's Sapporo where they lost to Germany 1-3 in a Group B match.

Germany snatched their fourth victory at the world championship by defeating the Chinese 20-25, 25-18, 25-21 and 25-23. Captain Angelina Grun made 20 'kills' to lead Germany with 25 points while Cornelia Dumler added 15. Yang Hao converted on 15 of his 35 attacking opportunities to lead China with 20 points, Wang Yimei had 19 and Xu Yunli scored 16.

Losing the last match of the group, China, now ranked third, will play the country in second place in Group C in the second round of the group stage in the following days.
