China Hit for Six at Junior Table Tennis Worlds

China won four more titles at the 4th World Junior Table Tennis Championships which concluded in Cairo on Sunday, bringing their total gold tally of at these championships to six.

In the girls' doubles final, Mu Zi and Wenjia of China trounced team-mates Feng Yalan and Wu Yang 4-0, while the two bronzes of the match went to Germany and Japan.

In boys' doubles final, Jiang Haiyang and Wu Hao of China scored a 4-2 victory over fellow Chinese Xu Ke and Xu Ruifeng. Portugal and Japan each secured a bronze in the semi-finals.

In the girls' singles final, Feng Yalan beat left-handed Wen Jia 4-2 in an all-Chinese final, while their team mates Wu Yang and Muzi each secured a bronze in the semi-finals.

In the boys' singles final, Xu Ke lost to Kenta Matsudaira of Japan 2-4, the only gold not claimed by China. The two bronzes went to Germany and Japan.

Earlier in the mixed doubles final on Saturday, Mu Zi and Xu Ke scored a 4-0 victory over Jiang Haiyang and Wen Jia, while Wu Hao and Feng Yalan of China secured a bronze in the semifinals, along with the German team.

The eight-day championships opened on Dec. 10 at the Cairo Stadium, with the participation of 192 athletes from 43 countries and regions.
