Butler, Nash NBA Players of Week

The Washington Wizards' Caron Butler and the Phoenix Suns' Steve Nash today were named the Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for games played Monday, Jan. 15, through Sunday, Jan. 21.

Butler averaged 23.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 2.8 steals in helping Washington to a 4-0 week. He scored 27 points, including the game-winning dunk with two seconds left to play, and added 10 assists and five rebounds in Washington's 99-98 win over New York on Jan. 17.

Nash, who also won the award the week of Dec. 11, averaged 15.5 points, 13.8 assists and 2.3 rebounds in helping Phoenix extend its winning streak to 13 games with a 4-0 week. He registered 21 points, 14 assists and four rebounds in the Suns' 100-91 win at Houston on Jan. 17, and twice notched 15 assists - at Memphis on Jan. 15 and vs. Portland on Jan. 19.

Here is a closer look at the week for Butler and Nash:

Caron Butler, Washington Wizards

Jan. 15 vs. Utah: Registered 21 points, seven rebounds, four steals and three assists in 114-11 win over the Jazz.

Jan. 17 vs. New York: Scored 27 points, including game-winning dunk, and added 10 assists and five rebounds in 99-98 win over the Knicks.

Jan. 19 at Orlando: Tallied 21 points, seven rebounds, five steals and four assists in 114-93 win over the Magic.

Jan. 20 vs. Boston: Posted 23 points, 11 rebounds, seven assists and two steals in 115-110 win over the Celtics.

Steve Nash, Phoenix Suns

Jan. 15 at Memphis: Notched 15 assists, 12 points, one rebound and one block in 137-122 win over the Grizzlies.

Jan. 17 at Houston: Scored 21 points and added 14 assists, four rebounds and one steal in 100-91 win over the Rockets.

Jan. 19 vs. Portland: Tallied 15 assists, 13 points, one rebound and one steal in 106-101 win over the Trail Blazers.

Jan. 21 vs. Minnesota: Posted 16 points, 11 assists, three rebounds and one steal in 131-102 win over the Timberwolves.

Other nominees for Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week were Cleveland's LeBron James, Dallas' Josh Howard, Denver's Marcus Camby, Detroit's Richard Hamilton, New Jersey's Jason Kidd, Phoenix's Shawn Marion and Amar Stoudemire, Seattle's Nick Collison, Toronto's Chris Bosh and Utah's Carlos Boozer.
