S. Korea Wins Short Track Speed Skating 500m X2

The Men's 500m x 2 short track speed skating finals completed at Jilin Provincial Speed Skating Rink on the eve of January 30, 2007. South Korea skaters Lee Kang Seok and Lee Kyou Hyuk took home the gold and silver medals, respectively and the bronze medal went to Japanese player Oikawa Yuya.

Japan and the Republic of Korea have always been a force to reckon with in this event and China comes behind these two powerhouses in Asia.

Lee Kang Seok and Lee Kyou Hyuk led during the first round of competition while the two Chinese players, An Weijiang and Jiao Yunlong both broke the Asian record. An Weijiang, who was in the fourth group, was the best in China, and took the fourth place after the first round.

The two Korean players continued their dominance in the second round with Lee Kang Seok grabbed the first place and Lee Kyou Hyuk, the second place with 70.30 seconds and 70.50 seconds respectively. Two Japanese players took the third and fourth places while Chinese An Weijiang, booked the fifth place with 71.07 seconds. The other Chinese players - Yu Fengtong, Zhang Zhongqi and Jiao Yunlong snatched the seventh, tenth and eleventh places, respectively, in the said competition.
