Top seed Amelie Mauresmo of France made an easy work, winning 6-1, 6-3 over Russian Dinara Safina to make the semifinals of the Antwerp Diamond Games women's singles tennis tournament on Friday.

In the 600,000 US dollars WTA event, the reigning champion will now face Russia's seventh seed Anna Chakvetadze who earlier beat third-seeded compatriot Nadia Petrova 6-3, 6-4.

Against Petrova, one of the hot favourites, the 19-year-old Chakvetadze played a solid game with few errors to beat her uninspired opponent in one hour, 26 minutes.
