China Overshines World Stars in Friendly

Substitute forward Ji Ting took an accurate low shot one minute before the final whistle as Chinese national team overshadowed FIFA Women's World Stars team 3-2 at a show match in Wuhan on Saturday.

Ji Ting netted the last-gasp winner when she took a timely follow-up to beat English keeper Rachel Brown.

The first half was typically a productive period with four goals. World Stars team opened the scoring just four minutes into the game with German striker Conny Pohlers's accurate header following Monica Gonzalez's cross.

China reacted quickly with two nice headers. Front line partner Liu Sa and Han Duan found the target in the 14th and 27th minute to take the lead. Australian defender Cheryl Salisbury levelled the score for the World Stars before the interval after Brazilian Daniela' pinpoint freekick to made it 2-2.

World Stars coach Tina Theune Meyer brought on several big names including American talisman Kristine Lilly and DPR Korea sharp shooter Ri Kum Suk and piled on the pressure on the hosts.

But the "Steel Roses" were gradually into form before 31,000 spectators and made sharp attacks as the half wore on.Han Duan went close on 62 minutes, but missed Liu Sa's low cross inside the box.
