Three boxers, two from Ugandan and one from Armenian have disappeared at the 2007 World Boxing Championships staging in Chicago.

Ugandan team manager John Baptist Ntgete identified his missing fighters as Sharif Bogere and Phillip Adyak. Bogere missed a weigh- in Thursday morning for an afternoon match, Ntgete said.

"We didn't expect him to let us down," said Ntgete.

"Some of them have been in phone contact with those that are nearest to them," Chicago police spokesman John Mirabelli said Thursday. "It appears they left voluntarily."

Coaches approached the local organizing committee expressing concern about the whereabouts of the athletes, said Richard Baker, spokesman for the International Boxing Association (AIBA).

"It was just a little bit of concern, it's common courtesy to assist the process," Baker said. He added officials were "not overly concerned" for the boxers' safety.
