The victory put the capital side back on track to their first ever China's top football division championship as arch competitors Changchun Yatai was unexpectedly crushed 3-2 by Henan Jianye.

After the match, Beijing has 51 points and Changchun 49. But there is only one game remaining for Lee Jang-Soo's squad while two for the Changchun side.

Visitors Tianjin, who only conceded one loss in nine clashes between the two sides since 2003, posed great threat to Beijing's goal after the game began, but failed to convert any of their opportunities.

Tiago found the net in the 42nd minute to give the home side a 1-0 lead and headed off a corner kick in the 72nd minute to hammer Beijing's victory.
