Yi, Durant named NBA's rookies for December

Milwaukee Bucks' Yi Jianlian and Seattle SuperSonics' Kevin Durant on Wednesday were chosen as the NBA's top rookies for December.

Yi, selected sixth in the NBA draft, won the honor for the Eastern Conference. He averaged 12.1 points and 6.6 rebounds last month and ranked second in scoring and rebounding among rookies.

In addition, the power forward from China scored a career-high 29 points in a 103-99 win over Charlotte on Dec. 22.

Durant, taken second in the NBA draft, won the Western Conference rookie award for the second month in a row. He is averaging 19.7 points a game.

The 19-year-old also fired in 35 points on Dec. 7, his best scoring night in the NBA, in a 104-98 victory over Milwaukee.
