Chen/Wang, both 16, winners of the event at the Beijing World Cup, ruled the synchronized final and collected a total of 380.16 points, nearly 50 points more than their closest rival.

Mexican pair Paola Espinosa/Tatiana Ortiz stood second at 332.31, while the bronze medal went to In Sun Hong/Choe Kum Hui from the Democratic People's Republic of Korea at 316.56.

"We fell behind in the first two dives, but did a good job in the following three dives," said Wang, gold winner of the Melbourne World Championships.

In front of the full-house audience, the Chinese golden pair presented flawless performances in their last two high-difficulty dives, gaining 92.16 and 91.80, far more than their competitors.

Silver medalists Paola Espinosa/Tatiana Ortiz were quite satisfied with their performance today. "We have just formed synchronized pair for half year, and have to work hard to increase trust and improve techniques. We can do better next time," said a smiling Ortiz.

It is Chen Ruolin's second gold at the Feb. 29-March 2 Grand Prix Shenzhen leg. She beat her synchronized partner and world champion Wang Xin to pocket the gold in the women's 10m platform event on Friday.

Saturday will also see the men's 10m platform final, where Zhou Lvxin, silver medalist of the 2007 Melbourne worlds, will compete for the sixth gold for the Chinese "Dream Team".

Opened on Friday afternoon, the three-day Shenzhen leg has drawn altogether 103 divers from 19 countries and regions.
