The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) would be trying its best to stop the shifting of the Asia Cup from its country following Australia's refusal to tour Pakistan citing security reasons, The Nation daily reported on Tuesday.

Pakistan has recently undergone a series of violent attacks, which cast shadow over the country's hosting of major international cricket events.

The Asia Cup, to be held from June 24 to July 6, and the September-October's Champions Trophy are in doubt and they are likely to be shifted to Sri Lanka, reports said.

The PCB will hold a meeting with the Asian Cricket Council officials on Thursday to discuss the fate of the Asia Cup event and other arrangements. Sri Lankan Cricket Board chief Arjuana Ranatunga will also attend the meeting.

On Friday, the PCB will give a detailed presentation to the International Cricket Council (ICC) delegation, which will not only assess progress of the arrangements for the Champions Trophy but would also look at the security situation of the country, The Nation said.

PCB chief Dr Nasim Ashraf who is attending the ICC meeting in Dubai has received tough quarries from other board members regarding the security situation in Pakistan.
