GM Tiviakov to play in Cuba

Chess Grand master (GM) Sergey Tiviakov of the Netherlands, titleholder of European Cup, will play in Cuba's 43rd Capablanca Memorial Chess Cup that starts on May 8 with the presence of 10 other GMs.

Six of the 10 GMs are Cuban.

The foreign GMs include Tiviakov (2,634 points), German Igor Khenkin (2,609), Polish Radoslaw Wojtasezek (2,625) and Farrukh Amonatov (2,625) of Tajikistan.

Six Cuban players are Leinier Dominguez (2,695), Lazaro Bruzon (2,608), Holden Hernandez (2,568), Cuba's current champion Yuniesky Quesada (2,567), Walter Arencibia (2,534) and Jesus Noguieras (2,559).

Latin America's highest ranked player as 26th in the FIDE list, Leinier Dominguez, is among the favorites to win this tournament.
