US announces team for 2008 IAAF World Junior Championships

A total of 79 American athletes would attend the 12th International Association of Athletics Federations set on July 8 to 13 in Bydgoszcz, Poland, USA Track and Field announced on Monday.

The Team U.S. roaster, including 40 men and 39 women, was decided at the 2008 USA Junior Track and Field Championships from June 20 to 22 in Columbus, Ohio, said the announcement.

Among the delegates, there would be previous World Junior participants, including 2006 World Junior 4x100 meters gold medalist Jeneba Tarmoh, 2006 World Junior 4x400 meters gold medalist and fifth-place finisher in the 400 meters Jessica Beard, and American Junior record-holding hammer thrower Walter Henning, according to the organization.

Other athletes that it said should be watched are 2007 World Youth triple jump champion Christian Taylor, 2007 World Youth 1,500 meters silver medalist and 2008 Olympic Trials finalist Jordan Hasay, 2007 Pan Am Junior 110 meters hurdle champion Johnny Dutch and 2008 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) champion Jeshua Anderson in the men's 400 meters hurdles, and 2008 NCAA pole vault champion Maston Wallace.

John Moon and Patrick Shane would be head coaches for male and female athletes, respectively, it added.
