Under huge cheers and yelling, hosts China overwhelmed Cuba 19-6, hugging their second win in their first two women's water polo matches at swimming worlds on Tuesday.

China eased past South Africa 22-5 in their opener on Sunday.

In today's game, stolen one goal from Cuba only one minute into the game, China levelled it in no time and usurped the lead at ease.

With better physical quality and teamwork, China extended the advantage gradually. With four minutes 55 seconds left in the third quarter, China enjoyed a 13-2 lead.

However, China head coach Jane Giralt Juan from Spain was not that satisfied with his girls' performance. "Tonight my girls presented their regular level, sometimes good sometimes bad. If we wanna beat Italy, we have to do it better," said Juan.

Italy, China's arch rival in Group D, overpowered South Africa 18-2. Leading 4-2 in the first quarter, Italy never looked back. A strong run of 5-0, 5-0 and 4-0, 14 unanswered ball in the next three periods sealed the easy win for Italy.

The defending champions United States breezed past Hungary 17-6. Olympic champions Netherlands trounced Kazakhstan 13-3.

In other games on Tuesday, Canada smashed Uzbekistan 22-6, Russia crushed Spain 18-8, Germany defeated Brazil 11-8 and Australia hammered New Zealand 12-4.

On Wednesday, 16 men's water polo teams will step again on the stage for their second round group matches.
