More than 350 volunteers from other parts of the country had arrived in Shenzhen to start 19 days of service for the Universiade, the volunteer department of the Universiade said August 8.

The volunteers are all university students from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and other parts of the mainland, Liu Yan, head of the Shenzhen Municipal Committee of the Communist Youth League of China, said at a welcoming ceremony on Aug 8.

The volunteers would serve at Shenzhen Stadium, Shenzhen Gymnasium and Shenzhen Natatorium. They would undergo training this week in first aid and safety, said Liu, who is in charge of the Universiade volunteering work.

They would participate in the World University Students Beach Music Festival tomorrow on August 10 with university students from around the world.

"I'm very excited and it is quite a supreme honor for me to be one of the volunteers for the Universiade," said Lin Shi from Shanxi Province. "I also feel I have a heavy responsibility at the same time." He is now a student at Macao Polytechnic Institute.

The volunteers will leave Shenzhen on Aug. 25.
