Large-capacity sodium/sulfur storage battery developed in China

According to a Xinhua report of October 20, Shanghai Institute of Ceramics and Shanghai Electric Power Company jointly worked out for a single sodium/sulfur storage battery of a capacity of 650Ah with a self-owned intellectual property. It makes China the runner-up after Japan to have the core technology of a single sodium/sulfur storage battery for a large capacity.

This type of battery has a high energy density, high efficiency of charge/discharge and long cycle life, and is fabricated from inexpensive materials. It is primarily used in large-scale non-mobile applications such as grid energy storage.
