Zhong Zang Jing (Master Hua's Classic of the Central Viscera)

Master Hua's Classic of the Central Viscera (Pinyin: Zhong Zang Jing) was written by Hua Tuo, a famous ancient Chinese physician who lived during the late Han Dynasty. He was the first person in China to use anesthesia during surgery.

The book, based on the theories from the The Yellow Emperor's Inner Canon (Pinyin: Huangdi Neijing) which stressed yin-yang and the adaptation of human body to natural environment, further developed the doctrine of yin-yang. It systemized theories of viscera in the early years; put forwarded the dialectical methodology of combining the physical appearance of human bodies with their pulses to diagnose the diseases; and analyzed whether the viscera organs are hot or cold, weak or strong, based on the pulses. The prescriptions listed in this book were clear with detailed descriptions on their methodology. It is an important works in TCM's history.
