Gao Lin, born in February 1986, started his professional soccer career with the Shanghai Shenhua Football Club in 2005. He was the team's striker for four years.

Gao is also a member of the Chinese national soccer team. In 2006, 2008 and 2010, he participated in the Doha Asian Games, the Beijing Olympic Games, and the East Asian Football Championship. In March 2010, he transferred to the Guangzhou Evergrande Football Club in the Chinese Super League.
