Top 20 cheapest private universities in US 2010-11

Berea College, with a tuition fee of $910 became the cheapest 4-year or above private university across the country for the 2010-11 academic year, according to U.S. Department of Education.

Berea College was followed by the Turtle Mountain Community College and Curtis Institute of Music placed the second and third spots with tuition of $2,000 and $2,290, respectively.

The average tuition fee at four-year or above private universities across the United States was $21,949 for the 2010-11 academic year, $15,280 higher than that of public schools.

This year's College Affordability and Transparency Lists, published last month, highlights institutions with the highest and lowest tuitions and net prices, and those schools where prices are rising the fastest.
