A plane crash refers to any accident or incident caused by either natural or other unexpected circumstances, leading to death, injury, aircraft damage, structural failure or even the complete vanishing of a plane.

According to statistics, some 1,000 people around the world die in plane crashes every year. Compared to the 700,000 people dying in road accidents annually, this indicates that flying is still the safest way to travel. Once a plane crash occurs, it is often fatal, with very low survival rates. Nevertheless, there are a number of exceptions. Miracles do exist.

China.org.cn here presents the top 10 miraculous plane crash survival tales. (Listed in chronological order)

On Jul. 30, 2011, a Boeing 737 plane of Caribbean Airlines coming in from New York was influenced by rainy weather conditions and overran the runway at Cheddi Jagan International Airport in Georgetown, Guyana. The aircraft shot right through a chain-link fence and stopped meters off a deep ravine. Despite the plane breaking into two pieces, all 163 people on board survived, with only three of them sent to hospital.
