   The Hearst family




William Randolph Hearst, born in 1863, was an American newspaper publisher who built the nation's largest newspaper chain and whose methods profoundly influenced American journalism. His second son William Randolph Hearst, Jr. became editor-in-chief of Hearst Newspapers after William Randolph Hearst died in 1951. In 1995, William Randolph Hearst, Jr. won a Pulitzer Prize for his interview with Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev and associated commentaries. At present, Hearst Corporation is one of the largest diversified communications companies in the world. Its major interests include 15 daily and 36 weekly newspapers, more than 300 magazines and 29 television stations worldwide.
