Due to historical reasons, the Palace Museum in Taipei, Taiwan, shares its roots with the Palace Museum in Beijing's Forbidden City. The museum officially opened to the public on Nov. 13, 1965. With nearly 700,000 artifacts, the museum preserves many precious treasures of the Chinese imperial collection.
