With growing enthusiasm for sci-fi across the country, various localities are developing sci-fi theme parks and installations, as well as organizing exhibitions. According to Chen Yu, chief curator of the Research Center for Science and Human Imagination at the Southern University of Science and Technology, there were seven major sci-fi exhibitions and 25 significant exhibitions exploring technology, arts, and the future in China last year. A prime example is Shanghai's "Three-Body: Beyond Gravity," an immersive experience that blends virtual reality, augmented reality, and interactive digital arts, maintaining a 90% attendance rate since its launch in April 2023. Additionally, various sci-fi parks have emerged. For example, a sci-fi theme park was built as part of the Chengdu Worldcon venue, attracting tourists and sci-fi fans. Following the success of "The Wandering Earth," China Film Co., Ltd. is planning to develop a theme park dedicated to the franchise. An exciting collaboration between the Chinese Nebula Awards and The Three-Body Universe was also announced at Chengdu Worldcon, aiming to establish a cultural and tourism project inspired by "The Three-Body Problem," including a sci-fi museum and immersive experiences. Plans are also in place to build a theme park camp honoring Zheng Wenguang, the "father of Chinese sci-fi," near the Universal Beijing Resort. The rise of these theme parks and exhibitions is set to significantly boost the development and culture of Chinese sci-fi for future generations.
