Scenic site closed after deadly fire in north China

The Taitaishan scenic site where a deadly fire broke out on Thursday were closed, local authorities said Friday.

The person in charge of the scenic spot and relevant personnel have been transferred to the public security organs for investigation.

The fire engulfed an exhibition hall of snow sculptures around 1:04 p.m. Thursday at the Taitaishan scenic site in Taiyuan, capital of north China's Shanxi Province, leaving 13 people dead and 15 others injured, according to the information office of the provincial government.

All the injured are receiving medical treatment and an investigation has been launched into the cause of the fire, the office said.
