Northwestern Beijing's Yanqing district will build itself into an outdoorsy-type place for sports enthusiasts to go within three years, according to its recently-issued development plan. By 2025, people from Beijing and nearby regions could enjoy outdoor sports in Yanqing in any season and within a short distance.

Tourists will find pleasant space for spring cycling, summer camping, autumn trekking and winter skiing in Yanqing in the future.

To offer top-notch service, Yanqing will introduce outdoor brands, host international outdoor fairs and competitions and attract outdoor service pros. It will also promote the outdoor recreations of gliding, parachuting, paddling and rock climbing.

As spring is in the air in Beijing now, Yanqing rolled out traveling routes for cycling, camping and trekking fans, which feature mountains, rivers, the Great Wall and forest parks.

Yanqing, reputed as a back garden and summer resort for Beijing's city proper, has a cluster of scenic spots including the Great Wall, Yudu Mountains, Wild Duck Lake Natural Reserve, Guihe River, the Beijing Expo Park, Badaling Ski Resort and Beijing Olympic zone.
