Authorities of intellectual property rights (IPRS) in Shanghai and neighboring Zhejiang and Jiangsu provinces reached an agreement Tuesday to protect IPRs together during the Expo.

The authorities vowed to jointly fight illegal and pornographic publications, infringements of IPR laws and illegal websites from May 1 to October 31, according to the agreement.

In addition, Shanghai would launch inspections of audio and video products carried through airports, train stations and ports before the opening of the Expo, said Jiao Yang, director of the Press and Publication Bureau of Shanghai.

POS TERMINALS INSTALLED ON EXPO SITE

A total of 2,250 point-of-sale (POS) terminals of 373 enterprises were installed at the Shanghai World Expo site, said an official of the Shanghai headquarters of the People's Bank of China Tuesday.

Holders of Unionpay, Visa, MasterCard, Japan Credit Bureau (JCB), Diners and American Express cards could all enjoy services at the Expo site, the official said.

As of April 13, the Expo site had 109 automatic teller machines, cash recycling machines and other financial self-service machines, he said.
