The organizer of the Shanghai World Expo will strengthen its crackdown on the sale of fake licensed products to protect the Expo's intellectual property rights.

Lin Shengyong, director of Commercial Administration and Service Department of the Expo site, told a press conference on Thursday that only a small number of fake licensed products had been found at the Expo site.

He said more measures will be taken to eliminate the fake products, but did not elaborate.

According to him, the total sales volume of Shanghai World Expo licensed products within the Expo site and all over the country has exceeded 20 billion yuan (2.86 billion U.S. dollars), higher than expected. The number of Expo products franchise stores in China has reached 5,500.

Among the 29 categories of licensed products, the Expo mascot toys, badges, mobile phone chains and precious metal products are the most popular.
