Expo visitors excceed 38 million

Some 391,800 people entered the Expo site by 7 pm Aug. 9, bringing the total number of Expo visitors to 38.2 million so far.

Among Monday's visitors, 103,000 came in tour groups and 48,474 were local residents with complimentary tickets offered by the Shanghai government. A total of 67,212 tickets were sold at the gates, 25,309 of them for evening visit.

As of 6 pm, 74,000 visitors had passed through Houtan entrance, compared with 60,000 at Shangnan Road entrance, 60,000 at Changqing Road entrance and 57,000 at Gaoke Road entrance.

As many as 78 shows were performed at Expo venues from morning to 5 pm Monday, attracting 51,000 spectators. Some 5,604 volunteers worked on the site.

Five on-site health clinics treated 361 visitors Monday by 4 pm.

The Expo Organizer expects some 115,600 group visitors on August 10.
