Guizhou Week on August 22 kicked off at Baosteel Grand Stage with ethnic singing and dancing by artists from the province.

Shanghai Party Secretary Yu Zhengsheng, Mayor Han Zheng and other city's top leaders attended the opening ceremony.

Guizhou's Provincial Pavilion received positive remarks from Chinese and foreign visitors for its open layout, beautiful settings, ethnic features, interesting pavilion activities and high-quality services, said Yang Xiong, Shanghai Executive Vice Mayor.

The total visitor number that the pavilion received has exceeded 4.8million, Yang added.

The Guizhou Week will showcase Guizhou ethnic culture as well as landscapes such as mountains and rivers, Yang said.

Yang also hoped that the Guizhou Week will be a complete success.

Guizhou is a beautiful and amazing place with many places undisturbed by industrialization, said Chen Yiqin, head of the Publicity Department of CPC Guizhou Committee.

Guizhou has also kept the local cultural diversity, Chen said.

Guizhou Provincial Pavilion with the theme "Intoxicating Beauty of a Summer Paradise" shows the province's glamour through its natural scenery, cultural features, historic relics, urban harmonious development and the people's understanding of living, Chen added.

She also welcomed Chinese and foreign people to travel and invest in Guizhou Province.

During the opening ceremony, artists from the province performed ethnic singing and dancing.

During the week, the province will stage square performances and parades as well as a photo exhibition on Mountain Chishui, famous for the China’s Danxia Landform, which was a red rock landform listed as a world's heritage.
